HELPING CHILDREN
BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES
Welcome
My name is Gemma and I am the founder of Growing Minds for Kids.
I am a Child and Family Coach specialising in helping children and young people grow and develop themselves so they can truly achieve their potential as unique individuals. I provide a friendly ear to listen to children and really hear what they have to say. The tools and techniques I use are fun and engaging for children and help them to learn new strategies for navigating their lives at home, at school and out in their wider lives in their community.
I trained as a ‘Mind Tools For Kids’ Coach and created Growing Minds For Kids using the skills I learned as a coach but also using all the experience I have working with children in schools. Before becoming a Mum I was a Primary School teacher with over 10 years’ experience working in a variety of different schools both in the UK and abroad. I was twice graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for my teaching and I loved my job. I worked in a variety of roles in State, Private and Special Needs schools beginning as a Teaching Assistant and then training to be a teacher. My roles in school included everything from class teacher to SEN Coordinator, Senior Management and specialised work teaching maths to children who were often lacking in self-esteem and confidence.
Now as a Child and Family Coach I work with children and help them with their emotional and social needs. A happy child is more likely to develop academically too but the starting point for many children is developing confidence in themselves first. Without this I saw the barriers to learning in the classroom every day.
My mission is to help children feel valued and brilliant about themselves.
Life is full of highs and lows and I am here to help children and families navigate challenges.
Emotional health and well-being in children is something I believe needs to be nurtured and looked after.
